We aim to help you and your child to lead a fulfilling everyday life. We work to keep hospital admissions to a minimum by providing evidence based nursing care and support for your child and family in your own home.
Where appropriate we also provide professional support and training to educational staff to help your child continue to attend nursery or school.
The service can be involved at different times throughout a child or young person’s life, for example following a hospital admission, during a period of illness or treatment.
The nature and length of a child’s care will depend on their specific needs and support required from the service. This may be anything from a few days to several months or until transition to adult services.
We can support children who need, or have:
- naso-gastric tube feeding,
- a gastrostomy,
- a tracheostomy,
- Blood sampling,
- oxygen dependent infants and children,
- administration of intravenous antibiotics, intra muscular or subcutaneous injections,
- management of complex wounds,
- technology dependency,
- children with disabilities and complex conditions, including those requiring continuing care,
- children with life-limiting and life-threatening illness, including those requiring palliative and end-of-life care,
- Epilepsy care, and
- Asthma management.
