Cumberland's Children's Disability Register
The Register is a voluntary, confidential list maintained by local authorities. The register helps to plan and improve services for children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
Benefits of joining the register
- helps the Council plan, monitor, and develop services for disabled children and their families
- allows the Council to communicate with families about relevant services and developments
- we provide updates via a newsletter keeping you informed of services on offer for children and young people with SEND.
Who can join?
Children and young people are eligible if they:
- are aged 0 to 18 years (consent may need to be given for those aged between 16 and 18 years)
- have a disability, special educational need (SEN) or a health condition that affects their daily lives
- Cumberland children and young people who have been issued with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) are automatically added to the register
- if you do not want your child to be added, and therefore want to opt out, please email the families.information@cumberland.gov.uk
- if your child doesn't have an EHCP but has a disability you can still register them by completing the online form
For more information, support or to opt out please contact families.information@cumberland.gov.uk.
