Cumbria Home Education and SEND

This is a group for parents/carer's in Cumbria, home educating and child/ren who have special educational needs and disabilities (DEND) or are seriously considering doing so. We want to:
- create a place of support and understanding, a place that is non judgemental, somewhere that parents/carer's can talk, ask questions, share ideas, information, advice, tips, strategies and approaches
- a place to share resources and learning based ideas
- a place to arrange meet ups and activities for our SEND kids and their siblings
- a place to keep up to date on SEND support available in Cumbria.
Education Otherwise than at School EOTAS Support for SEN Families
Heidi Mavir is a public speaker, activist, advocate and mental health first aider. She supports families in making requests for EOTAS. Heidi is an Autistic parent to an Autistic Teenager and a passionate advocate for trans and gender non-conforming kids.

We have some incredible advocates and knowledgeable parents with excellent knowledge of EOTAS.

A group for families who live in Cumbria and are either considering EOTAS as an option for their child with special educational needs (SEN) or that already have an EOTAS package in place. This group can help families understand:
- what EOTAS is
- give families an idea of what an EOTAS package could include
- and a place to share ideas, get advice and support one another

This is a group created by home educators, for home educators in Cumbria. It is a place to chat, share information, ideas, resources and blogs in a relaxed atmosphere. As you make your joining request, please could you confirm to admin that you are in Cumbria (or close enough to participate in Cumbrian activities) and that you are home educating or seriously considering it.
If you are a home educator who also works on a self employed basis as a tutor, please feel free to post information about your tuition services or skills you offer in the files section of the group. This will keep your information in a place where it can be more easily found, rather than lost somewhere in the conversation threads.
