Hospital and home tuition service (HHTS)
The HHTS supports 7 to 16 year olds who cannot attend school due to a medical condition.
They must meet these criteria:
- Absence from mainstream school for 15 days or more due to a medical condition.
- Frequent and long absences from mainstream school because of a medical condition.
A school, with a medical professional's support, can refer a young person to this service.
HHTS helps students continue their education and return to school when possible. Students start with a 6 week placement. After that, a review will assess their ongoing needs.
Students receive teaching in small groups or one-on-one, based on their medical needs. This allows for individual support in a calm and focused environment.
