Teaching Assistants are vital in schools. They help teachers support children's learning. There is a lot of variety in the role as this can be full class support, small group or 1-1, covering a broad area of need.
There are 3 levels of Teaching Assistant:
- Teaching Assistant
- Senior Teaching Assistant
- Higher Level Teaching Assistant
The levels depend on qualifications and experience. So, there is room for growth in the role and beyond. Teaching Assistants have gone on to become Teachers, specialise in an area of need, work for support organisations or the local authority.
