New Neurodiversity and Emotional Wellbeing Service pilot launched for families in Cumberland

Cumberland Council, in partnership with local NHS services, are pleased to announce the launch of a new Neurodiversity and Emotional Wellbeing Service. The service is being piloted for an initial 12 months in the Cumberland and Eden* areas from November 2025, and has been developed with the support of SENDAC, the statutory parent/carer forum for Cumbria.

Cumberland Local Area SEND and AP Inspection Report

The inspection team found no areas for priority improvement and overall, we have been given the middle rating (2) of the 3 possible outcomes for the delivery, planning and commissioning of SEND services.

Unique Voices Team

Animated by empathy: Cumberland’s Unique Voices bring SEND experiences to life

Unique Voices, a participation and engagement group for young people with SEND in Cumberland, has officially launched a new animation project aimed at highlighting the everyday lived experiences of young people with SEND in the region. The launch aligns with Learning Disability Week (16 to 22 June), which this year carries the theme ‘Do You See Me?’

Cumberland SEND and Alternative Provision Partnership launch their first Annual SEND Surveys

The Cumberland special educational needs and disability (SEND) and Alternative Partnership, comprised of Cumberland Council, local NHS and health organisations, and SEND Alliance Cumbria (SENDAC) – Cumbria’s parent-carer forum, have launched their first Annual SEND Surveys since the Partnership was established. This was following Cumberland Council becoming the new unitary authority for the area, replacing the former county and district councils.
